What to bring MSCC Camp

Preparation plays a big role in helping campers, especially children, feel confident and excited before they arrive. The more familiar camp feels ahead of time, the smoother the transition will be.

Camp is at the 5,000 foot elevation. Campers spend most of their time outdoors, so packing should focus on comfort, durability, and readiness for changing weather. Closed-toe shoes are required for most activities, and we strongly recommend packing layers for cool mornings and evenings. Label your items to prevent any mix ups.

Essential items include:

  • Sleeping bag (or blanket and sheets) and a pillow

  • For children 4 and under bring a small crib/playpen/stroller for child to sleep in (mothers are assigned one single bed only)

  • Hijabs/scarves for girls and women

  • Comfortable sneakers and flip-flops for shower/wudu

  • Rain gear and warm layers for unexpected weather

  • Reusable water bottle

  • Flashlight with extra batteries or charger

  • Earplugs and eye mask to help you sleep (OPTIONAL)

  • Qur’an, tablet or note paper, pens/pencils (OPTIONAL)

  • Labeled clothing and toiletries:

    • Towels, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo/conditioner, lip balm, tissues, insect repellent, hairbrush, comb, sunscreen.

Label everything, even socks, to prevent lost items.

What NOT to bring. Leave these at home

● Excess cash; however, there may be items available for purchase

● Chewing gum, sunflower seeds, sugary drinks, or personal snack food of any kind (NOT ALLOWED IN CABINS, PER CAMP GREEN MEADOWS)

Want to help your child get ready for MSCC Camp?
You can build their confidence before camp starts by practicing a few fun milestones together:

Try a practice sleepover: Have them spend a night away from home at a grandparent’s or friend's house.

Pack and unpack together: Help them practice keeping track of and managing their own belongings.

Practice speaking up: Encourage them to voice their needs clearly so they feel confident doing the same with their counselors!
